"The GRS program gave me a foundation and the confidence to tackle problems in my work life with teamwork and interdisciplinary thinking."

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE RESOURCE/REGION SPECIALIZATIONS THAT YOU DID?

I wanted to understand more about development “on the ground,” especially in rural areas. Economics provided a useful lens to understand more about the push and pull factors that drove agriculture and food decisions.

WHERE DID YOU TRAVEL FOR YOUR INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT?

Norway, Uganda, and Tanzania for one year of academic exchange.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES IN YOUR CURRENT POSITION?

We are building a digital token platform to help connect impact sector funding to micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries. My main role is building our team, mold our business model, and fundraising for our startup social enterprise.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY AND WHAT DO YOU FIND CHALLENGING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT POSITION?

It’s exciting to pour all my experiences and frustrations working in development from the last 10 years into building a system that could change the industry. It’s challenging to build something from scratch!

HOW DID THE GRS PROGRAM PREPARE YOU FOR THIS ROLE?

From day one, GRS helped me understand how to figure out what I wanted to learn, how to learn it, and how to take that learning and turn it into action. The GRS program gave me a foundation and confidence to tackle problems in my work life with teamwork and interdisciplinary thinking. It gave me the breadth of knowledge that I often draw upon to work with complex teams.
