Taught Masters: MSc in South Asia and International Development

UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH Taught Masters: MSc in South Asia and International Development Please visit our website: http://www.sps.ed.ac.uk/said This Masters programme draws on expertise in the Centre for South Asian Studies and beyond to enable you to explore a region that compels us to address some of the most crucial global political, economic and social issues that confront us all in the twenty-first century. Perturbing questions are raised by the co-existence of enduring poverty and inequity with apparently dynamic social, economic and demographic change. How does development take place in South Asia? How has it been shaped by history? What roles do the various states play in development actions? What roles are?or should be?played by non-state actors? The programme is relevant for people from a wide range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds and will appeal to students interested in pursuing careers in development agencies, consultancy, the public sector and non-governmental organisations as well as academia. As a student on this programme, you will have the opportunity to build a degree that best suits your own disciplinary and professional interests. This taught Masters is a one year programme that can also be undertaken over two years on a part-time basis. Apply now for September 2011. Applications will be accepted until 15th July 2011 For any queries about the MSc programme, please contact the Programme Director, Professor Patricia Jeffery, email: said@ed.ac.uk — Professor Patricia Jeffery Programme Director MSc South Asia and International Development — The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336.
