Bike-a-thon for Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS

CAP AIDS is pleased to announce that are our 3rd Annual Bike To CAP AIDS Vancouver bike-a-thon will be held at Trout Lake (John Hendry Park) on October 4th 2008. The bike-a-thon is an annual campaign of the Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS (CAP AIDS) aimed at raising awareness about the HIV and AIDS pandemic in Africa, while also demonstrating to Canadians that they can make a difference. CAP AIDS is a young Canadian charity focused on providing resources to the grassroots community-based organizations that are on the frontlines in the battle against the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. Every $200 raised during the bike-a-thon will allow CAP AIDS to provide a bicycle to an HIV/AIDS outreach worker in Africa. With a bicycle, the outreach worker will able to provide HIV and AIDS prevention, care, and support services to five times as many people. Last year, we raised over $25 000. Thanks to your valuable support, CAP AIDS has provided more than 200 bikes to AIDS service organizations and outreach workers in Ethiopia, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. Once you’ve registered or joined a group, you can solicit sponsors or invite friends to register for the bike-a-thon individually, through your group or create their own group and fundraise separately. Day-of registration for the ride starts at 9 AM, with the ride beginning at 10 AM. Participants will enjoy a fun family day with snacks and refreshments, prizes and entertainment.
