Summer!

April 4, 2011 The semester is quickly drawing to a close.  While last week was our last official “class”, there are plans underway for a friendly game of soccer in the oval field that’s surrounded by Macmillan, Forestry, and Bean Around the World cafe.  Contact Roxana for details.

Are you still looking for summer employment?

A Rocha Canada, a Christian conservation group, is hiring two summer interns to support work on their 2 acre CSA garden.  Several GRS’rs have worked there in the past and have excellent feedback.  Contact Alisha or Queenie for more details, or see this link. Vancouver Farmers Market is looking for someone for a crew position to be involved with various markets, click here for details. For those of you interested in a more techy summer job, there is an opportunity with Patch – E-Marketing, Social Media, and Communications through SFU School of Interactive Arts and Technology.  Deadlines for all of these opportunities are coming soon, so get in your resume right away!

Don’t forget to get your four postings in for this semester, April 15th is the deadline.

If you are having difficulties with your blog or the discussion board, please contact Alisha sooner rather than later.  Here’s a reminder of what’s expected:
  • Your five year plan (already submitted)
  • Producing a blog with a bio page if you didn’t already have one
    • This is a course requirement.  You need to include some sort of description of yourself and your goals for GRS, preferably incorporating a photo of yourself.
    • If you already have a blog from previous semesters of GRS, you may choose to create more postings for your blog, or simply participate in the GRS discussion boards (see links below).
  • Posting on the discussion board
  • Thoughtful postings on your blog
  • Note: Postings only count if they are from this semester (January 1, 2011 and onwards)
Remember that in order for your blog to be posted (and for you to get credit), you need to send Alisha your blog URL (http://blogs.landfood.ubc.ca/yourblogname).  Thanks!
