Workshop Opportunity: Start a Community Garden
My name is Paul Neufeld and I am an organic farmer in South Surrey with A Rocha Canada.
A Rocha is offering a new course on “Starting a Community Garden.” If people in your community are interested in starting a garden, then I want to personally encourage them to be part of this great learning opportunity.
The course starts with a two-day comprehensive workshop in February. The two-day workshop is followed by monthly, topic-focused training days at A Rocha’s Brooksdale Farm, where each participant will be involved with “hand-on” learning. A sampling of topics include seeds and seed starting, soil fertility, composting, winter gardening.
All the major details are in the attached poster: plot thickens poster.
Community gardens are a great way of building community and addressing food security. Since 2003, A Rocha has operated a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) operation in Surrey, and facilitates a national community garden network.
A Rocha is an international conservation organization, working to show God’s love for people and places. We partner broadly and welcome people of all backgrounds to participate in this workshop or in other aspects of our work.
