Reply to: job-zkxxn-1122518486@craigslist.org University Neighbourhoods Association Sustainability Coordinator Job Summary The University Neighbourhoods Association (UNA) provides municipal services for approximately 6000 residents who live within the UNA neighbourhoods on the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia. The UNA has a unique opportunity to help shape residential communities to be more sustainable. We are looking for a community minded, innovative, entrepreneurial and environmentally committed person to lead our team in practical, measurable and achievable sustainable efforts within the UNA neighborhoods. This is a new position with the opportunity for one person to make a big difference! The UNA Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and initiatives which heighten awareness and educate residents about sustainable and environmentally friendly living practices within the UNA neighborhoods. Job Responsibilities 1.Develops and implements sustainable programs and initiatives within the UNA neighborhoods. 2.Works with UNA Board, staff, residents and other key stakeholders to heighten awareness and educate on sustainable and environmentally friendly community living practices within the UNA neighborhoods. 3.Liaises with UBC and other organizations to coordinate sustainable efforts. 4.Promotes smart transportation and planning within the neighborhoods. 5.Contracts for third party service and product suppliers. 6.Conducts research on available grants and completes applications. 7.Stays current with best practices in sustainable initiatives within University and Municipal settings. Qualifications and Skills: • Requires an undergraduate degree (minimum) or graduate degree (preferred) in Environmental Science, Education, Resource Conservation or a related field of study. • Requires a minimum of two years experience in developing grassroots community sustainable initiatives. • Has a good understanding of sustainability and resource conservation best practices. • Has an excellent command of English with an ability to speak in multiple languages (particularly Mandarin) is an asset. • Has good written and interpersonal communications skills. • Is proficient with software: Word, Excel • Work experience in a university and/or municipal setting is an asset.
