$15/hr On-Call Event Assistant (UBC Vancouver)
INTRODUCTION:
The Old Barn Community Centre is operated by the University Neighbourhoods Association (UNA) who provides municipal-like services to the 6000 residents of market housing on the campus of UBC. The Old Barn Community Centre offers recreational, educational and fitness related programs and classes to a variety of University Town residents from babies to seniors; and also holds special events, including meetings, conferences, and classes for UBC Faculties.
JOB TITLE: On-Call Event Assistant
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the set up, smooth operations and tear down of UNA and Community Centre events. Ensures guest satisfaction through proper event set up according to user and event requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The on-call event planner will assist the Bookings Coordinator in making arrangements for special events, including but not limited to:
• Develop detailed plans for special events in conjunction with the Bookings Coordinator
• Assures proper care and handling of inventory of all furnishings, fixtures and equipment to meet required needs. Regularly inspects the quality of equipment and supplies required for events.
• Ensure the cleanliness of both physical space and equipment used for events.
• Responsible for maintaining the security of UNA equipment and property during special events.
• Ensure the building is closed up and secure at the end of an event.
• Receives feedback, complaints and comments from clients and takes corrective action when and where necessary, including passing comments on to the Community Centre programmer.
• Provides relief coverage to the front desk when required.
QUALIFICATION:
• Must be available all week nights and weekends
• Must possess experience in audio visual set up
• Must possess good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience in event planning and/or coordination for small and medium events (up to 200 people) is an asset
• Customer Service training is an asset.
JOB PARTICULARS: • Hourly Position: $15.00/hr
• Hired on an event by event basis
• No UNA Health Benefits
