UBC Jump Start is a two week orientation program with a residential component that takes place prior to the official start of classes. The goal of UBC Jump Start is to provide a comprehensive experiential program that supports academic success. The program provides a welcoming experieince to incoming international students, facilitates their academic preparation, their development of relationships with other UBC students and provides necessary information, resources and tools to help new students as they transition to UBC life. |

The Student Academic Life Coordinator will be part of the Jump Start team that is responsible for planning, promoting, delivering and evaluating a comprehensive training program. We are looking for students who will dedicate themselves to delivering a supportive, informative and inspiring orientation and transition program for new-to-UBC international undergraduates.
Successful Applicants must be available for full time employment from Tuesday May 5 to September 4, 2009. Some weekend and evening work will be required and coordinators must live on campus for the duration of the program, August 16 – Sept 1, 2009 |

Ability to respond professionally when dealing with students, staff and faculty; access to a cell phone for work purposes;demonstrated event management skills; excellent organizational, time management, computer, and communication skills;ability to work both independently and as part of a team; knowledge and/or sensitivity to issues affecting international students; previous experience with UBC Jump Start, Residence Life or Orientations an asset; driver’s liscense an asset |
