Shell Conservation Internship
Thirty-one keen young scientists are putting their environmental knowledge to work this summer as Shell Conservation Interns with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC).
The program is open to recent university grads and students. Interns carry out on-site stewardship tasks at some of NCC’s 2,000 properties across the country. From collecting animal movement data to developing land management plans to controlling the spread of invasive plant species, let the team at Canada’s leading conservation organization help you build valuable real-world experience.
As a non-profit, non-advocacy organization, NCC takes a business-like approach to preserving Canada’s natural heritage with a focus on conserving our landscapes for future generations. Through the Shell Conservation Internship Program we are training the next generation of environmental stewards.
The Shell Conservation Internship Program is made possible by support from Shell Canada Limited, which has donated more than $6.5 million in financial resources, land and mineral rights to NCC.

As much as I support conservation programs, I am really skeptical about one that is funded by Shell Canada… Not to say that the program itself would be limited by this fact (though I suspect it would and is), but the idea of supporting such blatant green-washing by an oil company that has stakes in the Albertan tar sands really makes me think twice about this internship.
