Position Overview The Community Development Department – Planning Division requires 2 auxiliary Research Assistants for approximately eight (8) weeks commencing mid-July 2010.
Responsibilities You will be assisting with: researching various Planning topics; assisting to identify potential legacies for the City as a result of the 2010 Vancouver/Whistler Olympics; assisting with various aspects of the City’s current and next Official Community Plan; completing various administrative duties; gathering statistical information, and reviewing current professional literature.
Requirements You will have completed courses in research, planning, building technology or related disciplines. A sound knowledge of research methods, techniques and practices along with statistical and analytical principles are required. Strong writing skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office are also required. In addition you must have a valid class 5 BC Drivers License.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary:
$27.06 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
(Pay Grade 21 – January 2010 rates)
Hours of Work:
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
This position is subject to approval and partial funding by the HRSDC – Canada Summer Jobs Program, therefore, applicants must meet program criteria, which includes being currently registered as a full-time student and intending to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year, and be from 15 to 30 years of age (inclusive).
