UBC-CLI Student Summer Projects Grants

The UBC-CLI has funds available for students that have completed, or are in the process of completing a community service learning placement or project coordinated by the UBC-CLI in 2008/2009 or 2009/2010 academic year. What are the UBC-CLI Student Summer Project Grants? The UBC-CLI Student Summer Project Grants are given to UBC students who have demonstrated commitment, initiative, and leadership while being involved in one of the UBC-Community Learning Initiative’s (UBC-CLI) course based community service learning opportunities. The grants encourage student community service that addresses asset based community development and capacity building. Successful grant applicants can apply for funds between $100 to $10,000 to make their project idea a reality. Timeline · April 21^st, 2010 – Complete the ‘BIG IDEA’ initial application form · April 26^th, 2010 – Attend a required workshop · May 5^th, 2010 – Submit your final proposal Attachments (Three documents about the UBC-CLI Summer Project Grants.) 1. CLI Summer Projects – Information about the summer project grants – including a timeline. 2. CLI Big Idea Application Form – Please complete this initial application form with your ‘Big idea’.  Students must fill out this form to be eligible to attend the Summer Project Grant workshop. After completing the form and attending the workshop, you will then be given the opportunity to submit a full project proposal for review. 3. What are asset-based approaches to community development – This document is referenced in the other two attachments. Students must review it in advance of talking to their community partner as asset based development is required for any/all applications to be successful.
