1) JOBS WITH SFU LOCAL FOOD PROJECT

If so, the SFU Local Food Project may be looking for you!
The SFU Local Food Project is a student-run organization that aims to raise awareness of the link between food miles and climate change, provide educational opportunities on the benefits of local food, and create alternative food distribution networks on campus. The Project currently operates a weekly Pocket Farmers Market on campus, a bi-weekly Harvest Box program, an Urban Agricultural Skills Training Program, an Online Resource Centre, and facilitates the BC Farm to Campus Network, a provincial network of over 15 colleges and universities working on local food initiatives.
The SFU Local Food Project is looking for several new program coordinators to continue to grow and develop the SFU Harvest Box and SFU Pocket Farmers Market programs on campus. In addition, they are hiring several communications interns to assist with project communications, which is a fabulous opportunity to gain experience working on communications in the non-profit sector. 2) PART-TIME DEMO POSITION
HORIZON DISTRIBUTORS is looking to add to their Demo Team!
Job Title: Demo-Merchandiser part-time for natural foods industry
Job Description: Horizon Distributors is looking for an outgoing person who loves food and enjoys sales, to be part of their “Demo” team. This involves intensive customer contact while performing demos and sampling of our products in participating natural foods stores, so excellent “people skills” and sales skills are required. Products to be demonstrated include Local, Organic, Natural and Fair Trade items.
Working Conditions:This position is approximately 20 to 28 hours per week, 3-4 shifts of 6-7hrs each. Shifts are scheduled in advance with some flexibility offered and required.
Qualifications Sought: Experience in a retail setting, particularly in the food industry is preferred. Sales training or experience is an asset. They are looking for an independent “people-person”, who is happy to initiate discussion with strangers to promote our product. You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and organized. You must have a FoodSafe certificate, Hepatitis A vaccine, valid drivers licence with access to a car and use of a computer with Excel program.
Salary:Compensation starts at $17/hr. Mileage is compensated. All staff enjoy a discount on their products.
