- Intro + background
- To decide:
- date
- conference format and length
- eligible causes
- who/which organizations do we need on board
- aims: e.g. how many people?
- timeline (who will do what and when?) Hope to see you there! Tiffany ——————————————————————————————————— What is this conference? Imagine you are new at UBC. Imagine you are a little bit interested in global issues, but where to start? This is what this conference is about – getting people interested. Basically it is this: 1. Get students together for a conference they can enter for $1 2. Get 20 to 25 UBC community members to speak about a charitable cause they believe in for 5 minutes 3. Students vote which cause will get all of the $1 4. Cause with most votes gets all the donations The dollar project sees this as a way for us to showcase the awesome charitable work UBC students do, to attract future leaders, and to show how much of an impact a dollar can have when we work together. Interested? Are you in? Shoot me an email at tiffany.ty.tong@gmail.com asap and please come to our meetings!
Hi GRSers,
As I talked about in class the other night, I’m involved with the UBC Dollar Project. We’re planning an exciting new kind of conference and will be holding a potluck during reading break to plan for the conference.
Even if you just want to hang out with awesome people that night, you’re welcomed to come! Send me an email (tiffany.ty.tong@gmail.com ) about if you’re coming and how many of your friends are coming.
I would really appreciate it if you can forward this to anybody you know who might be interested 🙂
Date: Feb 17 (Wednesday)
Time: 5:00 pm to whenever you want to leave (actual meeting would be around 1 hour)
Place: Tiffany’s place (right beside Joyce skytrain station)
