Thank you!

Founder, UBC Dollar Project
Background:
The Dollar Project’s main mission: 1) get people who are not interested in global issues more involved, in whatever small way and 2) do this by raising awareness of how much impact small actions (donating a dollar) can have.
We are exploring a new way to try to achieve this…by a new kind of conference.
Basically it is this:
1. Get students together for a conference they can enter for $1
2. Get 20 to 25 UBC community members to speak about a charitable cause they believe in for 5 minutes
3. Students vote which cause will get all of the $1
4. Donate all the money to the cause
Why do this?
– getting uninvolved people involved.
– create partnerships and involve many UBC students and organizations interested in global issues
– raise awareness about different issues in an easy to understand way
Why do this together as the Global Lounge?
– creates a platform where we can do more outreach and not always talk to the same kind of people
– our interest in global issues binds us together and I feel this conference can physicalize that relationship
– it would be a fun activity to collaborate together on!
Interested? Are you in?
Shoot me an email at tiffany.ty.tong@gmail.com asap and please come to our meetings!
The plan is to hold the conference at the start of April.
