Box 141     Phone: (877) 630 2198 Farmington, BC    or (250) 789 6885 V0C 1N0         Fax: (250) 789 6884 Website: www.peaceforageseed.ca Email:coordinator@peaceforageseed.ca Job Title: Summer Field Technician Location: Dawson Creek/ Fort St. John area Stationed daily from Farmington office Employer: Peace Region Forage Seed Association Preferred Field of Study: Agriculture, Ecology, Biology Salary/ Wage: $11 to $17/ hr, depending on qualifications & experience Normally 5 days per week, 8 hours per day Hours will need to be flexible during peak busy harvest periods Period of Employment: approximately May 1 until August 31, 2008 Description/ Duties:

• • Website updating: assisting with updating websites and photo collection
  • Forage seed research plots: seed preparation, site preparation, seeding, site maintenance, weed control, crop assessments, harvesting, sample processing, data entry, data processing, assistance with plots as necessary;
  • Field scale plots: soil, compost & crop sampling, data entry, data processing;
  • Summer tour: assist coordinator & directors to organize their annual tour;
  • Assist other researchers during peak periods;
  • Newspaper articles/ factsheets: assisting coordinator to compile factsheets and articles required to communicate results of projects.

Skills/ Qualifications:

• • Willing to learn and work,  keen interest in agriculture and research,
  • Physically fit and able to work out of doors,
  • Able to work independently,
  • Willing to relocate to the Peace for the term of employment,
  • Good computer skills & experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Publisher),

Preferred Qualifications:

• • Hold a valid driver’s licence,
  • Willing to travel and work long hours during peak periods,
  • Experience with field research methods, equipment and farmers,
  • Good verbal & communication skills,
